Black Clover 2nd Season: Premiere Time and Where to Watch

Black Clover 2nd Season official visual

Premiere day update, 3 October 2026. Re checked against the official site this afternoon and nothing has moved: episode 1 airs tonight at 23:00 JST on the TV Tokyo network. The site has since added an English language version, and it still lists no international streaming platform, so the position below is unchanged. Japanese streaming starts tomorrow.

Black Clover comes back on Saturday 3 October 2026 at 23:00 JST on the TV Tokyo network. The official title is Black Clover 2nd Season, Studio Pierrot is animating again, and the first episode reaches Japanese streaming the day after it airs. This page covers the broadcast times, every platform carrying it, the staff and cast, and what is worth rewatching in the few days you have left.

If what you want is the date and an explanation of the confusing season numbering, our Black Clover release date guide handles that. This page is the practical one.

Broadcast times

There are two Japanese broadcasts, four days apart, and then a settled weekly slot.

TV Tokyo network Saturday 3 October 2026, 23:00 JST
BS TV Tokyo Wednesday 7 October, 24:00 (midnight into Thursday)
Weekly from 8 October Thursdays, 23:30 JST

That 23:00 Saturday slot is 14:00 UTC, so 10:00 in New York and 15:00 in London on the same day. For once the Japanese broadcast time is friendly to the rest of the world rather than landing in the middle of the night.

Where to stream it in Japan

The streaming rollout is staggered, and the gap between the two waves is four days, which matters if you are trying to stay off social media until you have watched.

Early, from Sunday 4 October at noon: Anime Times, Lemino, U-NEXT and Anime Houdai.

Everyone else, from Thursday 8 October at noon: Bandai Channel, d Anime Store and its variants, ABEMA, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, DMM TV, FOD, Hulu, J:COM Stream, milplus and TELASA.

Free options: Lemino, Niconico Channel, Nettomo TV Tokyo, ABEMA, TVer and Niconico Live.

Where to watch outside Japan

The official site lists Japanese platforms only. Crunchyroll carried the original 170 episode run in most territories and still hosts the whole franchise, so it is the obvious candidate, but the production has not announced an international simulcast for the new season on any of its own channels as of today. We would rather tell you that plainly than invent a platform. This page gets updated the moment a real announcement lands.

What the new season is about

The Spade Kingdom’s Dark Triad have started tearing across the continent using high ranking devil power. Queen Lolopechka has been taken in the Heart Kingdom. In the Clover Kingdom, the Magic Knight captains Yami Sukehiro and William Vangeance have been taken too, which removes the two people the story normally leans on when things get bad.

That leaves Asta, and his answer is to reach for true devil power himself. Four seasons have been spent establishing why that is a terrible idea, which is exactly why the official synopsis builds the season around the choice.

The Dark Triad are cast as Rikiya Koyama for Dante Zogratis, Tatsuhisa Suzuki for Zenon Zogratis and Yui Ogura for Vanica Zogratis. What to rewatch before Saturday

The previous anime stopped inside the Spade Kingdom arc, so that is the stretch that matters and everything earlier is optional.

If you have a few evenings, watch the Spade Kingdom raid and the episodes leading into it. That puts you exactly where the new season picks up. If you have one evening, the episodes covering the Dark Triad’s introduction and the captains being taken are the load bearing ones, because those two events are the entire starting position for the new season.

The 2023 film, Sword of the Wizard King, is not required. It tells a self contained story outside this continuity and skipping it costs you nothing here.

The manga finished this year

Yuki Tabata’s manga ran from February 2015 to May 2026 in Weekly Shonen Jump and Jump GIGA, so the source material is now complete. The production says the series has passed 25 million copies in circulation worldwide.

The practical effect is that this adaptation is working from a finished story rather than chasing a weekly serialisation. That is the position every long running shonen anime wants to be in, and it usually shows in the pacing.

Premiere day extras

The production has announced a YouTube special live stream on broadcast day, plus countdown broadcasts staged in four cities around the world. A pre broadcast visual and the Dark Triad cast comments went up on 28 September, which is the most recent update on the official site.

For everything else premiering this month, our weekly anime schedule lists every airing series with its next episode time.

Frequently asked questions

What time does Black Clover 2nd Season air?

Saturday 3 October 2026 at 23:00 JST on the TV Tokyo network, then weekly on Thursdays at 23:30 from 8 October.

Where can I stream it?

In Japan, early on Anime Times, Lemino, U-NEXT and Anime Houdai from 4 October, then on most major platforms from 8 October. No international platform has been announced by the production yet.

Do I need to watch the film first?

No. Sword of the Wizard King is a separate story outside the main continuity.

Is this season 5?

The official Japanese title is Black Clover 2nd Season. Plenty of listings and fans call it season 5, because the original run was split into four seasons in English. Same show, same date, different counting.

Who is animating it?

Studio Pierrot, as with the original run.

Has the episode count been announced?

No. The official site gives the weekly Thursday slot but no total, so anyone quoting a number is guessing.
