Why films instead of a season
The Infinity Castle section of the manga is one continuous battle across several fronts, which suits an uninterrupted runtime better than weekly episodes broken up by recaps and credits. ufotable has handled the franchise this way before, releasing arcs theatrically and bringing them to television later.
Will there be a TV version?
Not announced. Previous Demon Slayer films eventually reached streaming and television, so it is a reasonable expectation rather than a confirmed plan. We will not put a date on it until one exists.
