Frieren Season 2 is finished. It ran 10 episodes from 16 January to 27 March 2026. Season 3 was announced the day the finale aired and is scheduled for October 2027, again at MADHOUSE, adapting the Golden Land arc.
This page was rewritten on 2 October 2026 after a fact check. An earlier version said Season 2 was still coming, gave 8 January 2026 as the premiere date and claimed 24 episodes. All three were wrong. The corrected record is below.

Frieren Season 3: what is confirmed
| Release window | October 2027 |
| Announced | 28 March 2026, straight after the Season 2 finale |
| Studio | MADHOUSE |
| Arc | The Golden Land arc |
| Director | Tomoya Kitagawa, continuing from Season 2 |
| Assistant director | Keiichiro Saito, who directed Season 1 |
| Series composition | Tomohiro Suzuki |
| Character design | Takase Maru and Keisuke Kojima |
| Music | Evan Call |
| Episode count | Not announced |
| Exact date | Not announced |
The announcement came with a key visual showing Macht, the demon of El Dorado, who is the Golden Land arc’s antagonist. That is the clearest signal of what the season covers, since Macht does not appear before that arc.
What is not known: the episode count, the exact date inside October, the broadcast slot and whether the simulcast arrangement carries over. Anyone giving you a specific day in October 2027 right now is guessing.
Season 2, the actual record
| Premiere | 16 January 2026 |
| Finale | 27 March 2026 |
| Episodes | 10 |
| Studio | MADHOUSE |
| Japanese broadcast | Nippon TV |
| International streaming | Crunchyroll |
Ten episodes rather than the 24 this page previously claimed, and a 16 January start rather than 8 January. If you planned a rewatch around those numbers, that is why they did not line up.

What Season 2 covered
Season 2 picks up after the First-Class Mage Exam. Frieren, Fern and Stark gain access to the Northern Plateau and push on towards Aureole, and the season leans hard on Stark, forcing him to face his own insecurities as the opposition gets serious.
It is a quieter, tighter run than Season 1’s 28 episodes, which is part of why ten episodes works. The arc has a clear start and a clear stopping point rather than being cut mid journey.

Where to start, and the watch order
If you are coming to this fresh, the order is simple:
- Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End, Season 1, 28 episodes, 29 September 2023 to 22 March 2024.
- Season 2, 10 episodes, January to March 2026.
- Season 3, from October 2027.
There is also a short companion series, Sousou no Frieren: ●● no Mahou, which has run three parts as web shorts since 2023. It is supplementary and you lose nothing by skipping it.
Crunchyroll carries the main series in most territories, subtitled and dubbed.

Why the gap to October 2027 is so long
Worth setting expectations honestly. Season 1 ended in March 2024 and Season 2 arrived in January 2026, a gap of about 22 months. Season 2 ended in March 2026 and Season 3 is slated for October 2027, which is about 19 months. So the wait is in line with this production’s own history rather than a sign of trouble.
MADHOUSE has kept the look remarkably consistent across both seasons, and the director from Season 2 is staying on with the Season 1 director alongside him. On this series’ record, the time is being spent rather than lost.

What was corrected on this page
Stated plainly, because the old figures may be cached or quoted elsewhere:
- It said the Season 2 premiere was “locked in as January 8, 2026”. It was 16 January 2026.
- It said “Episode Count: 24 episodes confirmed”. Season 2 was 10 episodes.
- Written in September 2026, it still described Season 2 as upcoming. It had finished in March 2026.
- It credited the announcement to “a major AnimeJapan panel” with no source. Removed.
- It had no mention of Season 3, which had been announced six months earlier and is the thing most readers are now looking for.
- Sections of fan theories and speculation presented alongside the confirmed facts have been removed.
