Ranma ½ Season 3 premieres on October 4, 2026, continuing MAPPA’s remake of Rumiko Takahashi’s classic on Netflix. It is the third October in a row for the series, which has settled into a one-cour-per-year rhythm since the 2024 relaunch. This guide covers the confirmed release date, staff, which arcs the new season is likely to adapt, the trailer and where to stream it.
Ranma ½ Season 3 release date
The new season starts in Japan on October 4, 2026, in a Saturday late-night slot on Nippon TV (technically the small hours of Sunday, Japan time), the same slot the first two seasons used. Netflix streams the series worldwide and already lists Season 3 on its Ranma ½ title page, so international episodes should arrive the same weekend as the Japanese broadcast, as they did for Seasons 1 and 2.
An episode count has not been announced. Both previous seasons were 12 episodes (Season 1: October to December 2024; Season 2: October 5 to December 20, 2025), and nothing in the announcement suggests a change, so a 12-episode run through late December is the safe expectation.

What Season 3 will cover
The 2024 remake follows the manga far more closely than the 1989 anime did, and it has been moving through Takahashi’s 38 volumes in order. Season 1 covered the setup, Ryoga, Shampoo and the early rivalries; Season 2 pushed through the Mousse, Happosai and Ukyo introductions and the Ryugenzawa material. Season 3 picks up from the end of Season 2, which puts it in the stretch of the manga dominated by Cologne’s training arcs, the escalation of the Kuno family chaos, and the longer story chapters that the original anime either skipped or reordered.
The characters MAPPA has highlighted for the new season back that up: alongside Ranma and Akane, the official materials list Cologne, Nabiki Tendo, Kodachi Kuno and Dr. Tofu, which is exactly the cast you would expect for the next block of chapters. Expect the Phoenix Pill, the Hiryu Shoten Ha training and some of the series’ best one-shot chapters to land here.

Studio and staff
MAPPA continues as the studio, with the same core team that has run the remake since 2024, which is a large part of why the series has been so consistent:
- Original creator: Rumiko Takahashi
- Director / sound director: Kounosuke Uda
- Series composition: Kimiko Ueno
- Character design: Hiromi Taniguchi
- Chief animation director: Kousuke Kawamura
- Main animators: Atsuko Ishida and Masahiro Kurio
- Music: Kaoru Wada
Two names matter for long-time fans. Atsuko Ishida was a character designer on the original 1989 anime, and Kaoru Wada scored Inuyasha, so the remake’s look and sound are being handled by people with a direct line to Takahashi’s earlier adaptations. The full original voice cast, led by Kappei Yamaguchi (male Ranma), Megumi Hayashibara (female Ranma) and Noriko Hidaka (Akane), has returned for every season so far.

Where to watch Ranma ½ Season 3
Netflix is the worldwide home for the remake. Seasons 1 and 2 (24 episodes in total) are streaming there now, and Season 3 is listed on the same title page. If you want the original 1989 series for comparison, it is on Crunchyroll and Hulu in most regions, but you do not need it: the remake starts from chapter 1 and stands alone.

Why the Ranma remake works
Remakes of 1980s and 1990s classics have a mixed record, but MAPPA’s Ranma ½ has been one of the successes: Season 1 scored 79 on AniList and was one of Netflix’s most-watched anime of late 2024, and Season 2 held that audience a year later. The formula is simple: faithful adaptation, the original cast, a modern but recognisable art style and a one-cour-per-year cadence that keeps the production quality high. Season 3 is the first time the remake reaches material the 1989 anime handled poorly, so it is also the first season with a real chance to improve on the original rather than just modernise it.
It joins a stacked first weekend of October. The Apothecary Diaries Season 3 (October 2), Tokyo Revengers Season 4 (October 3) and Blue Box Season 2 (also October 4) all premiere within three days of it; see our Fall 2026 anime season preview for the full lineup.
