The Egghead arc of the One Piece anime ran for 67 episodes, from episode 1089 on 7 January 2024 to episode 1155 on 28 December 2025. It is the first arc of the Final Saga, it adapts from the rest of volume 105 to the start of volume 111 of the manga, and it is complete. The anime moved on to the Elbaph arc afterwards.

If you have seen a guide claiming Egghead started in 2023, it is wrong. The arc began in January 2024, straight after the Wano Country arc finished.
The six month gap in the middle, explained
This is the part that confuses people catching up, and it is the single most useful thing to know about the arc’s schedule.
Egghead did not run continuously. The anime stopped in late October 2024 and did not return until April 2025, a break of roughly six months in the middle of the arc. Episode 1123 resumed the run on 5 April 2025, and the series then settled into Sunday nights. In the gap, Toei aired the standalone special ONE PIECE FAN LETTER on 20 October 2024, which is not part of the Egghead story and can be watched on its own.
So if you are working through the arc and the episode numbering seems to jump a season, nothing is missing. The show was simply off the air.
What the arc is about
Kept light on spoilers, because plenty of people land here mid catch up.
The Straw Hats reach Egghead, a research island built by Dr Vegapunk, the World Government’s chief scientist. Vegapunk has split himself into several satellite bodies, each with its own personality, and the early episodes are largely about the crew working out what the island is and who he is.
From there it turns. The World Government moves against Egghead, Admiral Kizaru arrives, and the arc becomes a running fight to get off the island. The Five Elders appear in person, which the series had avoided for hundreds of episodes. Alongside the action, Vegapunk delivers a broadcast that answers long standing questions about the world’s history, and it is the reason this arc matters to the overall story rather than just being a good fight.
It is also the first arc of the Final Saga, so everything in it feeds forward.
One casting note worth knowing
Admiral Kizaru was voiced by Unsho Ishizuka from the character’s introduction until the actor’s death in 2018. The role was recast, and the Egghead arc is the largest amount of screen time Kizaru has had since. If you watched the Marineford era and the voice sounds slightly different, that is why.

Crunchyroll carries the full arc in most territories, subtitled, with the English dub released on a rolling schedule that runs behind the subtitled episodes. Netflix and Hulu also hold One Piece in a number of regions, though which episode blocks are available varies by country and changes over time.

What happened after Egghead
The Elbaph arc began with episode 1156 on 5 April 2026, after a three month break across January to March. That run then stopped for the year with episode 1180 on 27 September 2026.
The reason is a schedule change rather than a problem. From 2026 the anime is capped at 26 episodes a year, announced by Toei and producer Ryuta Koike in October 2025, so that the adaptation sits closer to the manga’s pacing. New episodes are confirmed for 2027 with no date announced yet, and we cover that in full in when the One Piece anime returns.
How long it takes to watch
Sixty seven episodes at roughly 24 minutes each is about 27 hours, so a fortnight of evenings at a normal pace. Because the arc is finished, there is no waiting involved, which was not true for anyone who followed it week by week across two calendar years and a six month break.

What was corrected on this page
Being straight about it, because the old version may still be cached or quoted elsewhere:
- The episode and air date table gave windows from “early 2023” onwards. Egghead did not begin until January 2024, so every row was wrong. One row read “Episodes 1176 to 1090”, which is not a range at all.
- The page said the arc “started airing in early 2023 and has continued through 2025 and into 2026”. It ran January 2024 to December 2025 and did not air in 2026 at all.
- It claimed “Toei confirmed the final episode of the Egghead Arc received record streaming numbers”. No such statement exists. Removed.
- A comparison table rated other 2025 and 2026 arcs by “fan reception” and described plot points that had not happened. Removed rather than corrected.
- The images were unrelated. One was captioned as being from THE ONE PIECE, the separate WIT Studio remake, and another from a film. All images are now stills from the Egghead episodes themselves, credited.
