There is no Naruto Shippuden remaster. Nothing of the kind has been announced by Studio Pierrot, Shueisha or TV Tokyo, and no release date exists. This page previously said otherwise. It was wrong, it has been rewritten, and what follows is what the official sources actually support.
What this page used to claim
The earlier version stated that a full 4K restoration of all 500 episodes had been confirmed, with a “Director’s Cut”, over 200 sequences flagged for reanimation, a re-recorded orchestral soundtrack and a dated seasonal rollout. None of that came from a source. It was generated text presented as news, and if you came here from a search result quoting a date, that date never existed.
We are leaving the page up rather than deleting it, because the question is a fair one and it deserves a straight answer instead of a dead link.
So is Naruto Shippuden being remastered?
No announcement exists. Checks as of 29 September 2026:
- The official Naruto site lists three anime sections, the original series, Shippuden and Boruto. There is no remaster entry and no remaster news item.
- AniList holds no remaster record for Naruto: Shippuden. The series is listed once, 500 episodes, 15 February 2007 to 23 March 2017, finished.
- No staff, studio, platform or broadcaster has been attached to any such project by anyone.
If a remaster is ever announced, it will appear on the official site and on the franchise’s own channels first. This page gets updated the day that happens, not before.
What does exist, and is easy to confuse with a remaster
ROAD OF NARUTO. A ten minute special released on 3 October 2022 for the anime’s 20th anniversary, produced by Studio Pierrot. It re-animated scenes from across the series in modern quality. It is a standalone anniversary piece, not a restoration of the episodes, and it is the single most likely reason people believe a remaster was announced.
Four new episodes announced in 2022. Also tied to the 20th anniversary, four brand new episodes were announced and never aired. AniList still carries the project with an episode count of four and no date.
A new limited series, announced 28 September 2026. Viz Media confirmed a new Naruto television anime described as a limited series. Details are revealed at New York Comic Con on 10 October 2026. That is genuinely new production, not a remaster, and we cover it in full in our new Naruto anime guide.
How to watch Naruto Shippuden right now
Crunchyroll carries the franchise in most territories, subtitled and dubbed. Netflix holds Naruto and Shippuden in a number of regions, though the exact catalogue changes by country and the episode blocks are often split across several listings. Hulu carries the series in the United States.
Because regional rights move around, the reliable way to check is the franchise’s own streaming information page, which links out per series.
The filler question, answered properly
The single most common reason people want a remaster is the filler. Shippuden’s 500 episodes contain a large amount of it, concentrated in long stretches rather than spread evenly, which is why the series feels heavier than its story actually is.
No official “filler free” cut exists and none has been announced. What does exist is community maintained episode guides that mark canon, mixed and filler episodes. Using one of those is the practical answer today, and it costs nothing.
Why a full remaster is a bigger job than it sounds
Worth understanding, because it explains the silence. Shippuden was produced across a decade with a rotating staff and wildly varying per episode budgets. A genuine restoration means going back to source materials for 500 episodes, much of it digital work from the late 2000s, and reanimating the weakest sequences rather than simply upscaling them. ROAD OF NARUTO showed what that looks like at ten minutes. Scaling that to 500 episodes is a different order of project entirely.
That is not a reason it will never happen. It is a reason nobody should treat it as imminent without an announcement.
